The Hoax!..

imdb.com

Hey, so I couldn’t write anything for a while because of something called “the writer’s block”…I didn’t think that it would get to me but appearantly it did…till this morning…I woke up and turned on the TV and there it was, The Hoax, one of Richard Gere’s most wonderful roles..info from imdb.com

Early in 1971, McGraw-Hill passes on Clifford Irving’s new novel. He’s desperate for money, so, against the backdrop of Nixon’s reelection calculations, Irving claims he has Howard Hughes’s cooperation to write Hughes’s autobiography. With the help of friend Dick Suskind, Irving does research, lucks into a manuscript written by a long-time Hughes associate, and plays on corporate greed. He’s quick-thinking and outrageously bold. Plus, he banks on Hughes’s reluctance to enter the public eye. At the same time, he’s trying to rebuild his marriage and deflect the allure of his one-time mistress, Nina Van Pallandt. Can he write a good book, take the money, and pull off the hoax?

Even though there were some parts where they lost me…probably because I was trying to wake up…but I think that you will find that movie really great, the bad things were the really stupid Historical mistakes and Gere’s wife in the movie, she was  really cold and boring , really hated her, she makes you think of standing up, picking up the TV and just throw it out of the window, which I didn’t do because I love my TV!

Crazy Censorship…unbelievable!

I am one of the people that stand with Censorship…because without it a lot of people’s feelings….might get hurt…but I just can’t find a reason to censor this!…:

1942: Tweety Forced to Wear Clothes
Tweety Bird first appears in “A Tale of Two Kitties.” Animator Bob Clampett originally draws him without feathers but the Hays Office censorship bureau thinks the plucked bird is just a little too naked. So Clampett covers Tweety’s titillating flesh with yellow plumage. (Note: Clampett doesn’t let this pass quietly, though. In the episode, a cat yells to his partner, “Give me the bird!” To which the other cat responds, “If the Hays Office would let me, I’d give him the bird, all right!”).

Bonus: The Turbulent Life of the TV Toilet

1957: Before it airs, CBS yanks the pilot episode of Leave It To Beaver because of its plot: Wally and the Beav mail-order a baby alligator and are forced to hide it in the tank of the family’s toilet. CBS finally decides the show can air, but only if all shots of the toilet seat are excised. The toilet tank is left unharmed, marking the first time a toilet (or half of one, anyway) appears on TV.

1971: A major breakthrough occurs as the toilet is finally allowed to perform its function. The first flush is heard, but not seen, on the first-season episode of All in the Family. TV’s first flusher is, of course, Archie Bunker.

1959: Advertisers Rewrite History
On the dramatic anthology series Playhouse 90, an episode titled “Judgment at Nuremberg” has all references to gas
chambers eliminated from its re-enactment of the Nazi trials. This is done at the behest of the show’s slightly sensitive sponsor, the American Gas Association.

1973: Jack Paar’s censors are proven right about the toilet’s power over The Tonight Show audience. In the era of gasoline shortages, Johnny Carson jokes about an imminent shortage of toilet paper. Across the country, panicked viewers go on a hoarding spree, emptying store shelves and forcing Carson to publicly apologize the next night.

1952: Lucy Gets Knocked Up
Despite Lucille Ball’s pregnancy during an entire season of I Love Lucy, the actual word “pregnant” isn’t allowed on air. Instead, the show uses phrases that seem equally informative but (somehow) less fraught with sin, such as “with child,” “having a baby,” and “expecting.”

1956: Elvis’ Pelvis Shoved Off Screen
Elvis’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show is seen by 60 million people (about 80 percent of America’s TV owners at the time). His hips, however, aren’t so lucky. After his cover of Little Richard’s “Ready Teddy” – complete with trademark gyrations – the camera switches to a close-up of his face as not to over-stimulate the American public. By the time he appears on the show for the third time (in January 1957), he’s only shown from the waist up.

…I am just too speechless to talk about this….I will just leave you to decide by yourself…this article was by Ian Lendler from Mental Floss Magazine :) ….hope you guys enjoyed it!!.

Meet the Spartans…laughing out loud!

So its that time of the week when everybody is done reviewing all the movies in the Box Office…but I just like to take my time for a while…because statistically most of the people just read reviews before going to the cinema so I am reviewing it for those who are going to watch it this week :) ..

Basically, it’s all the best scenes from several well-known movies except with really lame jokes spliced in.

I can’t really blame the guy that wrote that review…because lets just face it..you can’t make fun of Spartans..because they are too manly to be made fun of..and beside that having Paris Hilton and Britney Spears impersonators just take all the fun away from any movie..I personally found that it wasn’t as good as Epic Movie….but it had the same base of thoughts…to just make a movie out of jokes…and between each joke there is like a second…which proves that they just try really hard to get the laugh out of us..I do think that both Epic Movies “considering Meet the Spartans is Epic Movie : 2″…can’t get to the standards of the 4 movies of Scary Movie..so…if you feel like you want to have a good laugh “maybe”…you can just go check out Meet the Spartans..I can’t say anything on the actors because I couldn’t tell if they were acting bad or the movie was too lame to actually have good acting in it :) … so Meet the Spartans had references to other movies such as : “Star Wars”..”Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi”.. “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”..”You Got Served”Ugly Betty”… “Little Miss Sunshine” …and..” Spider-Man 3″…and it made fun of some other movies and TV-Shows such as : “American Idol: The Search for a Superstar”… “America’s Next Top Model” …. “Dancing with the Stars” …” Casino Royale”…”Happy Feet”…” 300″ ….” Stomp the Yard”..”Shrek the Third”..”Transformers”..and.. “The MTV Video Music Awards of 2007″…I don’t know what else to say except that they better not make Sacry Movie 5 the way they did the two Epic Movies..it just won’t be that good for any of us..:)..

New Bond film title is confirmed

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig helped launch the new film at Pinewood Studios

The next James Bond film is to be called Quantum of Solace, producers have confirmed.

The title is taken from one of a collection of short stories published by 007 creator Ian Fleming in 1960.

Producer Michael Wilson said the film would have “twice as much action” as 2006’s Casino Royale, which saw Daniel Craig debut as the iconic secret agent.

The next outing, previously known as Bond 22, is partly being shot at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

At a press conference at the facility, reporters were shown a minute of footage from the new film, including Bond swinging on a rope after an explosion at an art gallery in Siena, Italy.

Another scene showed him meeting M – played by Dame Judi Dench – outside in the snow.

Filming on the movie has been taking place at Pinewood since November.

He’s looking for revenge, you know, to make himself happy with the world again

Daniel Craig on James Bond

Craig said the cryptic title referenced how Bond’s heart had been broken at the end of Casino Royale.

“Ian Fleming had written about relationships,” he explained.

“When they go wrong, when there’s nothing left, when the spark has gone, when the fire’s gone out, there’s no quantum of solace.

“And at the end of the last movie, Bond has the love of his life taken away from him and he never got that quantum of solace.”

Craig said the new film would follow 007 as he goes out “to find the guy who’s responsible”.

“So he’s looking for revenge, you know, to make himself happy with the world again.

“But the title also alludes to something else in the film,” he added.

Movies : Top 10 Memorable movie lines

Movies are pretty much our lives, they can’t be made without us and we can’t live without them, as my old uncle used to say the whole time “Movies are not memorable, their lines are”, he was absolutely correct, when you meet one of your friends and you go like “remember that movie, the one with the guy hanging from the….” and your friend says “yeah, the one when the guy SAYS….” it’s all about the lines baby! forget the movies, so here are the top 10 most memorable movie lines.

[10] “Wax on, wax off.”
Mr. Miyagi, The Karate Kid — 1984
The Karate Kid was one of the reasons to go to the movies in the ’80s. It tells the story of a new kid in town, Daniel (Ralph Macchio), who is tormented by rich karate aficionados. In order to confront them in a tournament, the kid gets tutored by a handyman, Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). The old man teaches Daniel that the heart and mind are more important than fists. One day, he has the kid wash cars, telling him to “wax on” with one hand and “wax off” with the other. In the end, Daniel realizes that washing cars served as karate practice.

[9] “Yippee-ki-yay, mother*******.”

John McClane, Die Hard — 1988
Christmas Eve should have been a quiet night for New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis), but he is forced to take action when terrorists take over the Los Angeles high-rise building where everyone — including his wife — is partying. Despite being barefoot and inefficiently armed with a gun and his wit, McClane is forced to use explosives to dispatch bad guys targeting a police armored car. After dropping his bomb, McClane says this line, in reference to the cowboy he’s been compared to.

gollum_poster

[8] “My precious”.

Gollum, The lord of the rings : The return of the king–2003

That Gollum character just creeps me out every time I watch this movie, it’s like pure evil or something, the movie is about The former Fellowship of the Ring while they prepare for the final battle for Middle Earth, meanwhile Frodo & Sam approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, at a moment of weakness the ring just becomes too tempting to Gollum and he just wanted to keep it to himself but still Frodo and Sam faced him with a heart and bravery of a giant in the body of a hobbit :) .

Terminator_PUB01

[7] “I’ll be back.”

The Terminator, The Terminator — 1984
Before Arnold Schwarzenegger was a bankable movie star, he was The Terminator, a killing machine sent back through time to kill a woman (Sarah Connor) who will one day give birth to the leader of a future human rebellion against robots. Ah-nuld says these three words in a police station after a cop tells him he’ll have to wait to see the woman. He does come back moments later as he had promised, but this time he drives a car through the wall. Schwarzenegger movies are always known for their crazy explosions and catchy one-liners.

1-7
[6] “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
Forrest Gump, Forrest Gump–1994
Tom Hanks is Forrest Gump, while not intelligent, has accidentally been present at many historic moments, but his true love, Jenny, eludes him, simply one of the greatest movies Tom Hanks acted in, it was great fun watching this movie, just makes you think that anything is possible if you just work for it and The world will never be the same once you’ve seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump.

[5] “The force will be with you, always.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars — 1977
Set in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars is about Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), a young man on a mission to save Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) from Darth Vader. Along the way, Luke discovers that the father he never knew was once a valiant Jedi warrior. Consequently, he finds himself an old Jedi Master who teaches him to harness the mystical force that makes the Jedi so powerful. Urged on by Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) with this line, Luke Skywalker manages to fight and defeat the evil empire.

5708-4.

[4] “The name’s Bond, James Bond”

James Bond, James Bond series — 1962
Everyone’s favorite British secret agent will forever remain 007. He’s got the gadgets, the babes, and the panache to save the world in style. Whenever he introduces himself for the first time, whether to a new conquest or an evil foe, he uses this line. No matter which actor has portrayed the character over the years — Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, or Pierce Brosnan — this line is always expected and underscores the suaveness of the ultra-cool secret agent.

[3] “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
Michael Corleone, The Godfather — 1972
The Godfather is certainly one of the most influential American movies ever made. It deals with the youngest child of a New York Mafia family, and his transformation from respectable man into ruthless gangster, to preserve the family business and avenge his father being attacked. This line is spoken by both Marlon Brando (as Don Vito Corleone, he says “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse”) and Al Pacino (as Michael), as further proof that whoever uses the threat of violence during negotiations will prevail.

[2] “Adrian!”

Rocky Balboa, Rocky — 1976
Certainly one of the best sports movies of all time, Sylvester Stallone stars as a struggling boxer whose dream is to one day have his shot at a big fight. When he finally gets a chance to fight the heavyweight champion of the world, he ends up losing the bout. But he goes the distance and manages to make shy Adrian (Talia Shire) fall in love with him. When he screams his girlfriend’s name at the end of the movie, we know he’s experienced his own victory, and life couldn’t be any sweeter for Rocky.

[1] “This is Sparta!”

King Leonidas, 300–2006

There is nothing better than the smell of a manly movie at any time of the day, who can miss a movie where the King of Sparta is leading his army against the advancing Persians; the battle is said to have inspired all of Greece to band together against the Persians, and helped usher in the world’s first democracy, oh and not to mention, saying “This is Sparta” while shoving someone down a well is pretty awesome.

Top Ten : Signs You’re Watching A Bad Monster Movie :

The reason why I’m writing this, because of the new movie in theaters today named “Cloverfield” it really seemed like a law budget movie, with a shadowy monster before the movie was in theaters, but after its first week in the box office, or to be more specific on the top of the box office gathering more than $41 million, that’s a really nice number for such a movie taking in mind that it was filmed by home usage cameras not professional ones like they use in all the other movies, I was one of the people that saw that movie, and I was really like WOW…the movie was fantastic, filled with such mystery and puzzles that just makes me want to cry! :) …so I decided to give you the 10 signs that you are watching a really bad Monster movie, sorry for posting a lot about movies lately, I’m trying to straighten things up, so here are the signs :

Must See Movie : Hancock

So we watched Will Smith in I Am Legend, and he was great, his acting felt like it was real, and we all have been touched and we all have been crying from I Am Legend, which was from my opinion was more than great, Its pretty much the best movie of 07 of its category, and that takes us to 2008, where Will Smith is getting ready to hit us really hard on July by his new movie Hancock, that might be the first time Will actually act like a superhero, well like a really jackass superhero, that movie is funny and the cast is great with the presence of Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman, so the plot is all about Will Smith “Hancock” who is a superhero that pretty much hate being a superhero, totally laid back, reminded me of Will when he was on The fresh prince of Bel Air, so that superhero have an affair with his public relations professional “Bateman” wife “Charlize Theron”, while Bateman’s character tries to repair Hancock’s image in front of people, from what I saw in the trailer, its going to be an awesome movie, I pretty much love the part where the whale is thrown back in the water by Hancock, totally waiting for the movie, it is going to be one of the best movies of 08.

must see movies : Alvin and the Chipmunks :)

I’ve always been a Justin Long fan, even his voice, he was amazing in live free or die hard, and he is even awesomer if this word exists in Alvin and the chipmunks, the story is based on the 1980’s cartoon series about a music group of chipmunks comprised of mischievous group leader Alvin (Justin Long); tall and quiet Simon (Matthew Grey); and chubby, impressionable Theodore (Jesse McCartney) even though I didn’t like Jesse at all, Dave (Jason Lee) was a really funny and cool character, having its ups and downs during the movie, I was expecting the movie to be really bad, but it turned out so so, still can’t believe the 142$ million dollars in the box office, but who knows, maybe it was just the children with some Christmas money leftover, still loved it, not as good as the Bee movie, but still considerable if I got bored and wanted to watch something funny.
